St. Hedwig’s Church  of Holdingford is Celebrating 100 Years ! on September 12, 2010

Their limited edition Centennial Book (Harvesting a Heritage of Charity)The book has the history of the church, Interesting articles on certain functions within the church, Family memories (especially showcasing families that were here when the original church was built), biographies of past priests, lots of photos and of course it finishes out with a section of favorite recipes. It costs $18.95 and is available at Helping Hands, Headley Hardware and also can be ordered  at  320-746-2426.

RIDING THE RAIL TO HOLDINGFORD

Coming up in July 10-11 is Holdingford Daze , the theme this year is
RIDING THE RAIL TO HOLDINGFORD. Based on the one hundred years since the Soo Line Railroad was officially opened on September 8th 1909. It had been built in 1907 and used but not officially opened.
A couple of special events are Friday evening 6:00-8:00 pm & Saturday all day, the Mn Central Railroad Club HO Scale Model Train Display will be at the City Center.
Friday night from 6:00-10:00 pm will be the First Holdingford Classic/Antique Car Show (on Main Street)

Historical Birthday Party

We want to let everyone know and invite the public to Our First Birthday Party !

The Holdingford Area Historical Society is celebrating its first birthday at its April 7th meeting. 7:00 pm. City Center, We will have a birthday cake and ice cream along with displays of local interest.

Memorial Day 1922

Memorial Day 1922 was celebrated in Holdingford with a "Parade, public speaking, ball game and other sports. Big Chicken Supper" (chicken suppers still popular today) "at the Scenic Hall. Bazaar, Big Dance, Dreamland Hall." It was noted this was the opening of the ball park at the end of Main Street, also Winkler Bros. were giving a free "Auto Strop Safety Razor" to the first man of the home team to hit a home run.
